EVENING PRIMROSE SEED OIL
It’s amazing where some essential fatty acids appear in nature, and even more amazing how we can source them and use them to improve our own health. Take, for example, the yellow flower of the biennial evening primrose (Oenothera biennis).
Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) seed oil provides gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential omega-6 fatty acid. Cold-pressed, without hexane or other solvents, these gel capsules contain 45 mg of biologically active GLA. Evening primrose supports cartilage and joint function, neuroendocrine and cognitive health, skin and connective tissue health, and helps maintain nerve function.
Evening primrose oil has been extracted from wildflower seeds by cold-pressing and enriched with vitamin E.
This combination provides linoleic acid (LA) and gamma-linoleic acid (GLA), both essential omega-6 fatty acids that the body cannot produce on its own and must be supplied through diet or supplements.
GLA is used by the body to produce hormone-like substances called prostaglandins.
