Bioactive form of folate
L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate (L-5-MTHF-Ca) is the calcium salt of L-5-methyltetrahydrofolic acid (L-5-MTHF), which is the predominant naturally occurring folic acid in food. It is synthesised by the reduction of folic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid, followed by methylation and diastereoselective crystallisation (in water) of L-5-MTHF as a calcium salt.
Methyl Folate L-5-MTHF-Ca can:
- may contribute to the normal synthesis of amino acids,
- may contribute to the normal metabolism of homocysteine,
- may contribute to normal mental function,
- may contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system,
- may contribute to the reduction of feelings of fatigue and tiredness.
