LactoSpore ®
The greatest advantage of our product is that LactoSpore® contains the bacterial strain Weizmannia Coagulans MTCC 5856 formerly known as Lactobacillus coagulans.
Under natural conditions, this bacterium exists in a spore form that only becomes active and begins to multiply in the digestive tract when exposed to the right pH and temperature.
For this reason, this strain is resistant to high temperatures and, according to the specifications, the raw material can be stored at room temperature.
LactoSpore ® is a commercial probiotic preparation containing L(+) lactic acid producing microbial preparation from Bacillus coagulans , MTCC 5856 (previously known as Lactobacillus sporogenes ).
The human gastrointestinal tract contains approximately 400 different species of bacteria that limit the growth of harmful bacteria and promote a healthy digestive system. Lactic acid-producing bacteria make up the largest group of inhabitants of all. LactoSpore ® produces L(+) lactic acid, grows between 35°C and 50°C and has an optimum pH range of 5.5-6.5.
The role of lactic acid bacteria in the microecology of the gastrointestinal tract is the subject of extensive research. It is widely believed that these bacteria prevent the growth of putrefactive microorganisms by:
- Competitive inhibition.
- Production of a non-conductive acidic environment.
- Production of antibiotic-like substances (bacteriocins).
Stability in powder form
The stability in powder form was tested to determine the shelf life at room temperature. Two standardised commercially available formulations, corresponding to 15 × 10 9 and 6 × 10 9 cfu/g, were considered for the study. Long-term stability testing of LactoSpore ® was carried out at room temperature according to ICH Q1A (R2) guidelines (ICH 2003).
A very non-significant reduction in the number of LactoSpore ® spores was found in both samples compared to the respective initial numbers, demonstrating the stability of both formulations over a period of 36 months (Majeed et al., 2016).
Thermal stability
The heat stability of probiotics is an important consideration when considering adding them to food products.

- Due to the nature of spore formation, it survives production, shipping and storage without losing viable counts.
