NAC N-acetyl L-cysteine
This is a sulphur-containing amino acid that is essential for the health of the skin, hair and nails. It is involved in the production of collagen – a substance that affects the elasticity, firmness and youthful appearance of the skin. It is also a component of certain digestive enzymes.
Cysteine is one of the endogenous amino acids, i.e. those that cannot be synthesised by the human body itself. Due to its specific chemical structure, it is able to bind many toxic substances and thus support the body’s detoxification process.
It is essential for the synthesis of glutathione – a compound that is a necessary component of liver and brain regeneration. Importantly, cysteine is also involved in the production of collagen, a substance responsible for the elasticity, firmness and youthful appearance of the skin.
